Indra Singh: Refreshing and Vibrant - by Léon Swartenbroeck

"Flexibility and freedom are the cornerstones of my philosophy."

Artist Indra Singh is no stranger to the equestrian world. As a horse owner and avid rider, she has acquired a unique perspective on the relationship between the horse and man, whether on the field of competition or in more relaxed settings.

Her strong, personal and interpretive style imbues vitality and energy to her subjects. As an artist she seeks to capture implied action through the use of broad brushstrokes and bold colors. Her work is approachable on many levels, allowing viewers to perceive meaning at their own pace.

Following her instincts Indra's style evolves from formal to abstract she avoids being labeled: "Flexibility and freedom are the cornerstones of my philosophy," she says. Whether rendered in acrylics, watercolors or oilstick, her paintings convey a sense of mystery and fascination while drawing us into an alternate world where the horses' point of view is dominant.
