Donna Binfield Bridges the Gap by Sarah H. Crampton
Reflecting back Binfield comments, “In my earlier days, I was rather timid, and art gave me a way to express how I felt about such things, using my pencil and brush to do so. Then stepping back out of the picture, I let my painting speak for me. It seemed much easier that way.” Today, Donna lives not far from where she grew up. A rural studio near Hastings, Nebraska, is a very comfortable setting for an artist, where she resides with her husband, various dogs, cats, and horses. She works in most media – pastel, oil, acrylic, watercolor, monoprinting, and sculpture – and teaches classes and workshops throughout Nebraska and Kansas. A lifetime outdoors has kept her in close contact with nature, and part of her passion for painting has been inspired by her desire to share a piece of nature with the viewer. Binfield explains, “I have experimented with every painting media imaginable, but my quest was always the same – to express myself with my paintings. Along the way, I began discovering that they were doing just that, and I was making connections with people who felt as I did about horses and other subjects. My paintings bridged the gap between me and my viewers.” “I am continually inspired by the beautiful works that other artists have done, and I have met so many true and exciting friends through my journey,” continues Donna. “What more could a timid country girl have asked for? I thank God for art and artists and for giving us beautiful subject matter that never ends.” For more information contact Donna Binfield at dbinfield@alltel.net. |
