Artist Bits: Susan Carson
Complementing the inspiration and creativity of each other are her jobs as a college fine arts instructor and a studio painter. While equine images are at the top of the subject list, she loves any subject that inspires the use of color and line: from realistic portraits to abstracts, all painted to the sounds of classical music. Much of Susanıs work is commissioned portraiture created from her clients photographs. Love of equine image originates from her childhood love of horses. Now relates to her reference photos of horse racing in the Midwest while following one daughterıs riding career. No longer having horses, Susanıs neighbors are always willing to let her study and photograph theirs and this interaction and study of the live animal is necessary to give spirit and content to her work. Only another horse lover can relate to rubbing a soft nose or having a one-sided conversation with an animal.
